Dirt – You’ve Met Your Match

When you clean gutters professionally, you learn that having several ways to clean them is important. During a recent gutter cleaning in Colorado Springs, I encountered a lot of dirt. No Tool Is Perfect

Even a simple and well-designed tool like the Gutter Scoop has aspects of its design that can be improved. My experience cleaning gutters in Black Forest earlier this year demonstrated this point. Nestled among pine trees, I knew there would be tons of wet and mucky pine needles to get out. That combination proved to be true, however, I struggled to remove the pine needles using the scoop. It was hard to keep the pine needles in the scoop and I wished there was some type of lip on the end of the tool. Point taken – match the tool to the job. One other consideration is will the tool fit in your gutters?

The Gutter Getter will fit in most gutters. However, I’ve found that on older homes or homes with a narrow width of gutters, the scoop doesn’t fit. So consider the width of your gutters versus the width of the tool before purchasing one. Online specs show it’s 3.13 inches wide for reference.

The two concerns are very minor. I still use the Gutter Getter on almost every job and highly recommend it. If I were to pick up only one tool to make gutter cleaning easier- the Gutter Getter would be it.
